DITEK Launches Power Line Conditioner with Embedded Surge Protection

DTK LC2 with background

DITEK Corporation   ♦   Largo, FL

We are proud to announce the launch of a new Line Conditioning Surge Protective Device model, DTK-LC2, that combines 120V power filtering with reliable protection from unnecessary damage caused by electrical surge events. This unique and compact combination simplifies implementation of indoor point-of-use surge protection for sensitive electronic systems while ensuring that protection is always operating correctly. The convenient plug-in design does not require an electrician for installation and can be wall-mounted or set on any convenient surface. As an additional benefit, a single channel of Ethernet/PoE protection is provided for network connections. If protection is compromised, this industry-leading technology alerts staff with both a strong audible alarm and a confirmation LED to make sure that vital equipment does not remain unprotected.

“The new DTK-LC2 line conditioner with surge protection establishes a new level of convenience for clean, protected power,” said Kyle Seay, Field Sales Engineer, DITEK. “It makes it easier than ever to implement 120V EMI/RFI noise filtering with a multi-stage hybrid protection circuit for fast response and excellent surge protection. Now every critical electronic system with a power plug can benefit from industry-leading protection – and users can always be sure that protection is in service.”

The DTK-LC2 is UL1449 listed as a Type 3 SPD for surge protection, UL1283 listed for EMI/RFI noise filtering, and complies with applicable IEEE standards. The DTK-LC2 is made in the USA, with a 10-year limited warranty.

DITEK Launches Modular Surge Protector for Convenience Stores

DTK-DF120S12 Deflector Series

DITEK Corporation   ♦   Largo, FL

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Deflector Series Surge Protective Device model, DTK-DF120S12, specifically designed to protect convenience stores and multi-dispenser fueling stations from unnecessary damage caused by electrical surge events. This unique new configuration delivers a wide range of benefits to store operators by protecting sensitive fuel pump control systems and more from damage while ensuring that protection is operating correctly. If protection is compromised, this patented, industry-leading technology alerts station staff and management in three ways to make sure that vital equipment does not remain unprotected.

“This new Deflector Series solves an ongoing challenge for convenience store operators. These businesses rely on a range of electronic systems to attract customers and quickly deliver profitable sales – but all these systems are vulnerable to electrical disturbances,” said Rich Mitchell, Technical Sales Engineer, DITEK. “Installing surge protection is only a partial solution – because that protection can degrade over time and require replacement. The new Deflector is a complete solution that makes use of a unique audible alarm that can’t be ignored, and a modular design that makes it possible to reinstate protection in only a few seconds.”

Many convenience stores offer a variety of goods and services supported by electronic systems, such as fuel, hot and cold beverages and snacks, lottery tickets, and ATM cash dispensers. The POS and payment systems used for all transactions are also essential, as are back-office accounting and payroll systems. If a pump is bagged, the business risks losing sales as customers move on to a competitor down the road.

While every sensitive electronic system is vulnerable to power surges, spikes, and disturbances, the nature of convenience stores and gas stations pose a particular risk. This is partly because fuel pumps are outdoors and relatively exposed to the elements, and because of the communications cables that traverse from interior to exterior areas, providing additional transmission paths for damaging electrical surges.

The new Deflector-series configuration is designed to protect up to 12 fuel dispensers – or any mixture of 12 mission critical 120-volt device not exceeding 20 amps – using a single compact wall-mountable cabinet. For an operation with more than 12 essential devices, multiple cabinets can easily be installed to cover every system. The cabinet itself features a clear window that lets staff confirm protection status instantly, and if replacement is needed, the rapid-replacement modules are easily serviced.

With its audible alarm, flashing LED indicator and remote notification capability, each Deflector-series module lets the user know in three ways when it requires attention. The
DTK-DF120S12 Deflector Series Surge Protector provides advanced, isolated surge protection and noise filtering, yet is easy to monitor, easy to maintain, and easy to replace protection modules without costly service interruptions.

If a Deflector protection module reaches end-of-life, the unit sounds a loud audible alarm and an LED flashes, indicating exactly which module needs to be replaced. Intelligent notification is also available via dry contacts which can be connected to alarm panels to alert central station monitoring that the module needs replacing.

“With the Deflector Series, you’ll always know when your surge protection requires attention. When it goes, you’ll hear it and see it. Our Rapid-Replacement Modules can be swapped literally in seconds,” said Mitchell. “No other surge protection solution combines this level of protection, with attention-getting LEDs, audible alarm and remote notification circuitry.”

The Deflector Series is UL1449 listed for surge protection, UL1283 listed for EMI/RFI noise filtering, and has been certified to be safe with the highest possible ratings by UL.

DITEK Introduces Service Entrance Surge Protectors for Facility-Wide Protection

Professional Grade Industrial Surge Protection

DITEK Corporation   ♦   Largo, FL

We are excited to introduce our new D200M and D300M family of Industrial Surge Protectors, designed to provide protection to AC power systems in the most demanding environments. Every model in the family provides a high surge current rating to ensure a long service life, with additional service assurance features to support proactive operational management. Units are available in 5 different voltage configurations with up to 10 protection modes to meet project specification needs. These new models are all listed in MasterSpec® Construction Specifications, a product of the American Institute of Architects, for easy inclusion in new projects.

In the past, it has been difficult for facility management to be certain that surge protection devices were working properly. This is partly because most daily surge events are small and go unnoticed, and partly because surge protection devices sacrifice themselves to divert dangerous electrical surges away from sensitive equipment, thus eventually requiring them to be replaced. The problem arises when the surge protection devices have done their job correctly, but building managers don’t realize that they need to be replaced. In that situation, sensitive equipment is no longer protected and is at risk of costly and disruptive damage.

The new DITEK models include service assurance features that help alert building management of their current status so that managers can take action to maintain continued protection. One of these features is an innovative visual end-of-life indicator that displays a green LED when the device has at least 2/3 of its life remaining, a yellow LED when the device life is between 1/3 and 2/3, and a red LED when less than 1/3 of its life remains. Other service assurance features include a surge counter with reset button, an audible alarm with silence button, and dry contacts for remote monitoring. With these powerful service features available, building managers can proactively manage surge protection for their facility and maintain an awareness of the current protection status.

“Every day, commercial facilities of all kinds, from offices and retail stores to medical buildings are all depending more and more on electronic systems to support their operations,” said Michael Molinari, General Sales Manager, DITEK. “Facility managers are looking for ways to better support these needs with professional-grade protection. Our new industrial surge protectors provide the electrical protection they need, backed by a limited 10-year warranty, while giving them the tools to manage and assure they are protected.”

This new family of surge protectors includes two series. The D200M Series has a 200,000 Amps/phase surge current rating. The D300M Series has a 300,000 Amps/phase surge current rating. Each Series has five models that cover a range of standard service voltages from 120/240VAC up to 480VAC, and are housed in rugged NEMA 4 enclosures.
